What a month! We went to the Bahamas for a fun relaxing long weekend over Valentine's day (or at least as relaxing as it can be to have two kids in a hotel room with us). It was great and Maeve absolutely loved the ocean and all the sand. Too bad it wasn't a little warmer, Kaleigh didn't get to experience much of the water.
Many, many Kudos to all those moms out there that work full time and raise children. After our vacation, I worked full time for two weeks tohelp out at work. My parents were here to help and I was still exhausted! Luckily the girls loved having Grandma and Gpa here. My parents taught Maeve the word "lovely". She didn't understand the meaning but loved walking around saying "I lovely" and clapping. Nothing like teaching some modesty. =)
Maeve also had her 2nd b-day. She was lucky enough to have three parties with her grandparents, friends from playgroup, and daycare. I think she will forever think the song "Happy Birthday" was created just for her (it competes with her other favorite songs, "If your happy and you know it", ABC's, monkeys in the tree and wheels on the bus...she has her mother's wonderful voice so it's just lovely to listen to her sing....HA).
Maeve switched to a toddler bed before her birthday. The first night, she was so excited she kept getting out of bed and yelling down to us "Own bed, Own bed!". It has been a little freaky waking up at one in the morning having her standing right next to us, but in general, it has been a easy transition. However, she is up bright and earlier every morning at 6 am announcing "downstairs" . I think she use to be up that early but was content to hang out in her crib for another hr. Sleeping in until 7am seems to be forever gone!
I am still trying to transition Kaleigh into Maeve's crib so that they can share a room. Kaleigh is doing great with sleeping but seems to wake up more when she is in a room with someone else. She is down by 7pm and asleep until about 5 am. (But wouldn't it be great to just get that other hr). At least once she eats she will go to sleep until Maeve is up! (Too bad I haven't mastered falling back to sleep that quickly!)
Kaleigh is such a talker and she LOVES watching Maeve. It's really hard to tell Maeve to stop climbing on her, kissing on her, talking in her face when all Kaleigh does is laugh anytime Maeve is around. Kaleigh is saying dada all the time (sometimes a mama slips out, but I am sure dada will be her first "true word"....no gratitude!). Kaleigh can roll over easily now and every once in a while I find her on her stomach in the morning but her favorite position is sitting up. She can do it on her own for many minutes now and loves to reach and play with toys (especially if they are her sister's). She is also good at giving hugs. It's hard to believe she is 6 mos!
Hopefully things will be slowing down a little. Since my daycare changed and Kaleigh and Maeve are finally in the same daycare, I am only working two days. I switched to Mondays and Fridays and am working 10 hr days. They are long but bearable since Iknow I will have at least a couple of days before doing it again. (except for the weeks I go in to help cover on Wednesday). I might end up liking this schedule and sticking with it for a while. It will be great once the weather gets warmer and we can go to the pool. Maeve is practicing swimming every week and loves it. When we talk about it she says "up and down" (her favorite activity in the pool). We can't wait for summer!
